Who gets to appoint three new Florida Supreme Court Justices, Rick Scott or the next governor?
Justices were emotional and animated as they heard oral arguments on whether Gov. Rick Scott has the authority to appoint three new justices to replace justices whose terms expire on the same day he leaves offices in January 2019. The League of Women Voters of Florida and Common Cause Florida filed the lawsuit in June and contend that Scott’s successor holds the privilege of naming justices. The Oral Arguments were made on Monday November 1.
