The LWVOC Hot Topics on January 10th showcased our Constitution and the CRC: One of the major state stories of 2018 will center on the actions of the Constitution Revision Commission, which meets every 20 years to propose amendments to the Constitution.
During this impressive Hot Topics event, teams of lawyers from the Orange County Inns of Court outlined the impact of past amendments and discussed some of the current proposals, which include banning the death penalty, raising the mandatory retirement age for judges, expanding the Cabinet, restoring felons’ rights and eliminating the use of public financing for statewide elections. Voters get to decide at the Nov. 6 election.
Ninth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Bob LeBlanc lead the conversation. Attorneys Sherri DeWitt, Ahmad El-Gendi, Dave Harris, Diane Holmes, Lauren Ilvento, Kevin Kelly, Kimberly Mann, Steve Marsee, Esther McKean, Larry Smith and Louise B. Zeuli delivered this comprehensive overview.
The Inns of Court is an association of lawyers, judges and other legal professionals from all levels and backgrounds who share a passion for professional excellence.
